Full view is a must!

*sigh* this piece took a lot of my time. I think it’s the most complex vector I have ever made. I finished watching blood+ recently and I felled like making wallpaper from the show. I decided to vector Saya using this screenshot [link] as a reference. I started to regret it as soon as I start working on the vector. Due to the bad quality I was ready to trash it. But for some reason I change my mind. I decided to improvise and just do it.

The hardest part was all the skin… specially the hand. It’s hard to shade without the outline. So I have to work a lot with that. It might look simple but the effort in this is endless. Now I understand why people only do this kind of vector work for like once a year. I end up with so many layer it give me headache.

Now to my favourite part: concept. I want to capture Saya when she’s trying to be strong and do what must be done while holding back her emotions. At start she annoys me very much but I finally understand the character and she’s likeable. Oh and the red crystal is well blood…
